You will see the difference between a 200 lb. man with proper and improper posture in the act of walking or running.

Proper Posture

Improper Posture

The proper S-shape spine is a dynamic (moving) machine.

The straight spine is a postural maintenance machine.

The amount of effort expended by the hamstring muscle in the planted leg at a 60° angle during movement:

With proper posture:

zero

With improper posture (trunk mass 4" forward)
